The Elegant Pear opened in 2015 in Fort Collins, CO, and offers full design services and a wonderful retail experience similar to visiting a large design center. The shop has been a member of the Rowe family of retailers since 2018, and offers a selection of luxe custom furniture as well as unique light fixtures, original and custom print art, area rugs and more. Owner and designer Cherilee Blubaugh has over 25 years of design experience, and believes the absolute best part of any design is connecting with her clients regarding their home, making unique changes to create the home they want. Their dedicated staff is committed to creating a wonderful and welcoming experience for customers to enjoy.

The best way to support small business is to experience it. Walk into that retail shop and experience having a real person see you, listen to you and then help you. There is joy in having someone come alongside you and partner with you on your quest for whatever it is that brought you in today.

What makes your shop unique?

Because we do not focus on trends, our wide variety of offerings sets us apart. We want to offer those things that cannot be found elsewhere, from custom furniture that can be changed a hundred ways to handmade porcelain from Israel. We offer light fixtures to area rugs and everything in between. Of course, there is also the genuine care we have for our clients and customers.

What are you looking forward to showcasing next season?

We are always looking forward to the exciting things we have found on our semi-annual trips to High Point market. We absolutely love Rowe's showroom, it's truly one of our favorites. That and our Rowe rep, Tim Dahlberg.

What do you love about working with Rowe?

Rowe continues to release new pieces that are different from what they have had before, and unique from the trends that the other manufacturers release. Rowe's showroom is by far my most favorite to walk through at market.

What's the most memorable moment that has occurred in your shop?

One Saturday we had a couple that had come in and found a sofa that they loved and were sitting at to get the feel of, and some old friends of theirs walked in and sat down. Before we knew it, there were 6 or 8 old friends getting reacquainted in a beautiful vignette that felt like home.

Why is your location the perfect fit for your shop?

We are located in a beautiful small(ish) town called Fort Collins. It is unique because it's a college town, a town where people are looking to retire as well as raise their families. We have 100+ year old bungalows being remodeled and restored and million dollar condos. We love to work with the wide spectrum of people that call Fort Collins home.

If we pop into your store at any given moment, what would we see?

A great collaboration on design or quite possibly food — we love both! Or quite often you will catch Cherilee in a meaningful conversation with her clients, sitting on a sofa on the showroom floor just as if they were in her living room at home!

How does your shop make customers feel?

We regularly hear from customers when they walk in how peaceful it feels, how beautifully curated the shop is, and what a treat it is to find it- and we are so grateful for that!

What's on your store playlist?

A little bit of a mix! Some days we have Ed Sheeran Radio, other days we will have Needtobreathe Radio, and then some Easy Jazz thrown into the lineup!

Who's your dream celebrity customer?

I don't keep up with celebrities, but my retail manager, Michelle says "hands down, Ed Sheeran"!
