We are a family owned & operated business since 1997! Our family history in the
Furniture business dates back to 1954, when our family opened their first store in the Bronx, known as Mott Haven Furniture (500 square feet), later known as Kelly’s Furniture, starting with re-upholstering kitchen chairs and worked their way into manufacturing furniture. They built their business up to having 15 storefronts throughout the NY boroughs.
Our floor staff is made up of the most sincere, honest, knowledgeable, and friendly people. We’re all community-minded, dependable and never pushy! We’re here to help, and give you space to shop too. Most of our staff do not come from a sales background (which is preferable, in our opinion). We look for people who enjoy people, home and decorating. They know their stuff and are not afraid to give you an honest opinion.
We offer WHITE GLOVE delivery with flat rate delivery fees! We have our own in-house delivery team that will assemble and place your furniture in the room of your choice & the packaging will leave with us! They are courteous, punctual, trustworthy and strong!

What makes your shop unique?

We are family owned and operated since 1997. Now on the 2nd generation of family ownership. Pat & Kristen Kelly, the new owners, took over the store 3 years ago. Pat grew up around the store as his Father & Aunt started the company. Pat was in IT consulting and Kristen was a Dr of Physical Therapy. Quite the career shifts! But their love of what MFB stood for was what made the change easy. Our customers can feel that vibe in our store when they shop with us. It’s a laid-back atmosphere and we all like to have fun. We’ve had long lasting customers - parents, kids, extended family members and friends of theirs come to us over the years. We love knowing their story and seeing their families grow!

What do you love about working with Rowe?

We love the quality and the care of Rowe. We also love our rep, Nancy Costello. She is the best! We love the updated style that Rowe has brought to our showroom, and our customers feedback is the same. Sleek and timeless pieces with a wide variety of fabrics and leathers. Makes it easy to tailor one piece to a variety of different customers tastes.

How does your shop make customers feel?

We have a unique customer experience at Madison Furniture Barn. Customers will find signs throughout the store to ask our team if they need help. We do not want customers to feel like they are being followed around. This gives our customers the space to come and browse stress free, and when they need help our highly experienced team can assist them with picking out the finishing piece to a room, or furnishing an entire home. We believe shopping should be an enjoyable experience! Our store has a laid back and fun vibe, where you’re likely to hear laughter and see smiles. We love making the whole process fun for our customers.
Also, the same philosophy goes for our in-house white glove delivery team. We do not outsource that side of the business to a 3rd party. Our delivery team always gets rave reviews on their professionalism and kindness, making the entire purchasing process with MFB fun and seamless.

What's on your store playlist?

We are all over the place!! Most days you’ll hear our Coffee House Chill playlist, but the next day you’ll hear The Rolling Stones or Country. We like to change it up. We are open 7 days a week so we have to keep it fresh!

What are you looking forward to showcasing next season?

For years we were known for our coastal vibe, but in recent years we’ve introduced different styles. We will never go away from our coastal style, as we feel it is timeless & we are located on the coast! Our main focus will always be quality and comfort. But we have been bringing in more leather on chairs and ottomans to go with our upholstery. We are looking forward to adding more natural elements, rich earth tones and more curved silhouettes, bringing a more natural and welcoming aesthetic to home décor! We also love having more eco-friendly and sustainable options available for our customers.

What's the most memorable moment that has occurred in your shop?

A few years ago, after 24 years in one location, we moved our store to a beautiful new building in a high traffic area, a town over on the CT shoreline! We custom designed that space to fit our style. It was a labor of love, but we couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out!

Why is your location the perfect fit for your shop?

We are located in a coastal town that happens to be home to many of our employees. We are all deeply rooted in the local community, and love giving back to the area. Our style matches up with our customer base, and we are honored to be serving the same area for 25+ years!

If we pop into your store at any given moment, what would we see?

A lot of moving of furniture and some good hearted fun and joking. Our philosophy changed during the pandemic when we started selling more off of our showroom floor because of supply chain issues. Our customers loved our showroom changing nearly everyday so we have continued to do so. So everyday we are bringing out new products and shifting around our vignettes. This makes it fun for our frequent visitors to find new furniture and accessories every time they stop in!
