Co-owners Linda Criswell and Alicia Flatin have grown the business from a dynamic duo to a team of over 35 employees, and the shop has been part of the Rowe family of retailers since 2021. At bungalow, you can expect to find eclectic, “layered and collected” pieces that stray away from the modern and minimal look currently favored by most retailers.

As small businesses disappear, it’s so important to support independent brick & mortar stores or one day we will end up with nowhere to shop in person to find unique items. Just show up! Even if it’s just for inspiration.

What makes your shop unique?

We always strive to stay on trend. We do have a consistent coastal and transitional vibe, but we are always on the hunt for new lines and products for our customers. Part of our uniqueness is the scale of the store and the depth of inventory we carry. We have always sold off the floor; you can have anything in our store immediately.

How does your shop make customers feel?

Since we cover pretty much all categories of home goods and now clothing, we are definitely a “lifestyle” store. We have a definite style and brand image that is approachable and comfortable. We do sell a high end look, but it feels relaxed and approachable.

What's on your store playlist?

We create our own curated playlists every month. We like a mix of music that spans the decades, and are inspired by current movies and events. We like the music to reflect the seasons. We might have a bossa nova song mixed with a classic 70’s hit mixed with Dua Lipa.

What are you looking forward to showcasing next season?

We just found some new lines in High Point, and are looking forward to bringing back some of our more traditional roots. Trends have gone so modern and minimal, but we have always been a “layered & collected” kind of shop.

Who’s your celebrity dream customer?

Gwyneth Paltrow would be fun! She has an incredible eye, likes to mix old with new, and would have a dream budget.
