Vintage Home South

Durham, NC-based Vintage Home South opened in 2015 in the charming historic neighborhood of Old West Durham, offering a carefully curated mix of vintage, vintage-inspired, and repurposed furniture and home decor. A member of the Rowe family of retailers since 2019, the shop is owned and operated by Jen and Rich Devlin, a married team whose individual strengths are perfectly suited to the running of their unique business. Their shared hospitality background and passion for customer service creates a welcoming environment that showcases their refined-casual style. “We have opposite skill sets so it works perfectly because neither one of us wants to do what the other is doing,” jokes Jen, adding, “he’s the numbers geek, while I’m the fluffer!” When not at their store, Jen and Rich enjoy spending time with their dogs Hammy and Tupelo, as well as enjoying the local antique shops, flea markets, eateries and lovely surroundings offered by their neighborhood.

We offer one hour in-home consultations [with our clients] where we create a room that THEY love and feel is inspiring. Our philosophy is that design work should be fun, collaborative and easy — it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. We help them work through design & decor challenges by offering layout, furniture, accessory, paint, rug suggestions to pull their spaces together.

Our ever-evolving mix of vintage and new furniture and home decor with a refined-casual style and our passion for superior customer service. We're always striving to move heaven and earth for our clients every day!

How does your shop make customers feel?

You'll find a relaxing, homey vibe with a signature scent burning and indie-inspired music filling the air — our customers always say "I want to live here!” Our look is very collected, with a mix of new and vintage. We have lots of layers and texture, such as white neutral upholstered furniture with color layered on with pillows, throws, artwork.

What are you looking forward to showcasing next season?

Custom ottomans, the Lounge collection, and the Grayson Sectional. We will also have custom dining tables from a local woodworker in PA.
